World’s First Mobile Phone

The world’s first mobile phone was manufactured by an American engineer named Martin Cooper, who he demonstrated to the world on April 3, 1973. It was the first phone in the world, which was made for the common people, because before this radio phones and wireless phones were also available, but it was mostly used by the armed forces.

Martin Cooper made the first call from his office in Manhattan to the headquarters of Bell Labs located in New Jersey. Martin Cooper co-produced this mobile phone with today’s leading mobile company Motorola and later became the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. Martin Cooper was awarded the Marconi Award in 2013 for the outstanding work done in the field of communication due to the creation of the world’s first mobile phone.

The world’s first commercial cellular phone service was launched in 1979 by a Japanese company called NTT. Then in 1981, mobile phone services started in Denmark, Filand, Norway and Sweden, Called Nordic Mobile Telephone (NMT). In 1983, The 1-G telephone network was started in the US city of Chicago under the name Ameritech.
